The Role

Our well-respected Development team is seeking a Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering against our ambitious plans to deliver new homes. If you’ve experience within the development space and are looking to diversify from project management to new business, this could be the opportunity for you!

We’re looking for an individual who can proactively identify and appraise new business opportunities, building key relationships with developers, land owners, local authorities and other agencies to gain a competitive edge. You’ll be leading on complex contract negotiations, securing funding and finalising budget and cash flows, and then the effective and timely handover of projects to our Development Construction Team, ensuring that all relevant audit requirements for the pre-construction phase are completed.

You’ll have experience in managing and leading complex development projects, being someone who doesn’t shy away from ambitious targets and new challenges. We’re looking for a track record of using your relationship building skill to secure new business opportunities, as well as your understanding of construction contract law, planning and building regulations.

Our Development team have a strong track record of delivering industry recognised projects with a focus on sustainability and quality, and are well positioned to deliver 4,000 completions by March 2025. Our ambitions remain high with a focus on delivering a record number of high-quality homes by 2030, offering you the opportunity to really shape our New Business Development programme.

Our ideal candidate? Given the ambitious nature of this role, we require a dynamic, resourceful and highly commercial Development professional who enjoys working in a very fast-paced, challenging but ultimately rewarding role and organisation. Your application will demonstrate:

  • A relevant Housing or Construction degree, or equivalent experience of working in a Housing, Construction or Property related role.
  • A track record of securing new business development opportunities.
  • Experience of complex contract negotiations, construction law and applied understanding of the planning process.
  • Experience of developing and sustaining trusted relationships with developers, local authorities and other external stakeholders.

As a Smart Working organisation, you can expect to work from a Midland Heart site 3 days a week and 2 days remotely from home.
