The Role

As a leading Housing Organisation committed to developing and delivering high-quality new homes; we’re seeking a Defects Surveyor and Contracts Manager join our Development team where you’ll play a key role in guarantee that our customers are provided with a seamless and high level of customer care in every aspect of the service delivered.

This is a brand-new role where you’ll undertake post contract defects inspections across Midland Heart’s portfolio of new build homes, championing the delivery of high-quality homes and customer satisfaction. Importantly, you’ll oversee the repair of defects delivered through an external contractor; undertaking quality site inspections across our portfolio, developing key performance indicators, undertaking regular performance reviews and addressing performance to ensure best value and quality is achieved. You’ll also play a key role working in partnership with the wider Defects and Development team by providing technical support during the construction period, ensuring developments are delivered to a high standard.

In this role you can expect to be undertaking inspections of new homes 2-3 days a week across the Midlands region. Our Development team embrace flexible working so you can expect the rest of your time to be working remotely from home, with travel to a Midland Heart site (Bath Row, Birmingham, Popes Lane, Oldbury or East Midlands Hub, Hinkley) for team/stakeholder meetings.

Our ideal candidate? We’re seeking a technically qualified individual who understands customer needs and is able to deliver multiple priorities to tight deadlines. You’ll also have:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body, such as RICS, CIOB or CABE.
  • Demonstrable experience of building surveying in a new homes environment.
  • Experience of contract managing contractors / third party suppliers.
  • Experience of new homes warranty and claims.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience of working in a role that faces customers, including face to face interactions.

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be willing and able to travel to developments across the Midland Heart geography which may be inaccessible via public transport.
