The Role

We are a large charitable registered provider of social housing, headquartered in Birmingham, with operations throughout the Midlands.

We are first and foremost a business with a strong social purpose.  For nearly a hundred years we have focussed on our mission to provide high quality, safe and affordable homes that allow people to live truly independent and fulfilling lives.

The housing sector is both challenging and an area of great opportunity.  As we begin to move into the next phase of our corporate strategy, it is important that the business remains strong at the time of challenge for the sector.  The Operations Committee’s focus is to ensure that our tenants’ views are heard and translated into action by Midland Heart.

Due to a retirement from the Committee, we are seeking a new tenant member to join us; playing a critical role in shaping our operations and helping to ensure that Midland Heart continues to provide brilliant homes and services for our tenants, now and into the future.

As a member of our Operations Committee, you’ll contribute your experience, knowledge and insight to provide effective scrutiny and guidance to our Executive Team and the Board regarding our approach to tenant engagement, delivering tenant focused service, our operational performance, as well as our policies that directly impact the service and homes that we provide.

Our ideal candidate?  You’ll be an existing Midland Heart  tenant  or leaseholder who has not previously served on our Operations Committee.  To make the most positive impact possible, you’ll have some previous experience of a broad range of community relations and needs, for example: equality and diversity, community regeneration, local housing needs, tenant needs and priorities, as well as tenant engagement and involvement.

To apply, submit a CV and a covering letter, clearly explaining why you are interested in the post, how your skills and experience meet the role description and why you consider yourself suitable.

Interviews are to be held on the morning of  2nd October 2024.

If you’d like to arrange a confidential discussion about the role, please contact customerscrutiny@midlandheart.org.uk.
