The Role

We’re hiring a Cook to join our Retirement Living Team at St Crispin Retirement Village, in Duston, Northampton. This is a part time permanent role working 14 hours per week, on a rota:

  • Week 1 – Wednesday and Thursday
  • Week 2 – Saturday and Sunday

Shifts are between 8am – 3pm or 8.30am – 3.30pm, working 7 hours per shift. We welcome applications from candidates who are willing and able to work on a rota basis. We’d also consider offering permanent weekend shifts to candidates who are interested in this.

St Crispin Village is one of our largest Retirement Villages where we typically cater for 45-50 meals each day. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and serving fresh home-cooked meals to customers.
  • Maintaining and cleaning the kitchen and restaurant area.
  • Providing catering for events and activities held on the scheme.
  • Supporting fortnightly menu planning that meet our customers cultural and dietary needs.
  • Ordering and replenishing food and kitchen supplies, with a focus on staying within budget.

Our Ideal Candidate? We are looking for people who have:

  • Previous cooking/kitchen experience.
  • A Food Safety Level 2 qualification (if you don’t have this, we will train you on this if you’re successful).
  • Are confident in dealing with budgets and stocktaking.
  • Are confident in using IT systems (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
