The Role

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Lettings Officer to join our Housing Operations department. We own 33,000 quality homes for social and affordable across the region, and one of our keys to success is ensuring that these homes are lived in and loved for the maximum time possible and achieving re-let times that are amongst the best in the housing sector.

As a Trainee Lettings Officer, we’ll develop your skills, knowledge and experience to  enable you to:

  • Coordinate and administer the process for re-letting of empty properties so that homes are empty for the shortest period possible.
  • Allocate properties in line with Midland Heart standards, policies and procedures; ensuring support needs are identified to help sustain tenancies and working with our Asset Management Team to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Minimise void loss by working with our In-house Maintenance Team to ensure customers move in as soon as the property is ready to let, in accordance with our void standard.

We’ll also support you to gain a Chartered Institute of Housing qualification to further develop your knowledge and receive recognition as a housing practice professional.

Our ideal candidate? You’ll have a foundation of knowledge gained through obtaining a Degree Level qualification in a relevant subject (i.e. housing, public service, public policy or a social science etc.). Previous experience in housing is not essential. What’s more important is that you demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in housing and the people skills and behaviours needed to do so. We’re seeking a strong problem solver who has a positive and proactive approach to work and achieving targets, coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. The desire to provide a brilliant customer service with every interaction is an absolute must.
