The Role

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for an Independent Living Officer to join our vibrant team based at The Snowhill, Birmingham. This is a full time permanent role working to a rota – shift lengths vary but are between the hours of 8am and 8pm, Monday to Sunday.

You’ll work as part of a friendly and highly professional team with the responsibility for providing the very best housing-related support to a diverse group of customers aged 21-55, including single people and couples, who are facing homelessness.

You’ll support our customers by working with them to develop the skills they’ll need to successfully maintain independent living, sustain a tenancy effectively and make sound decisions in relation to education and employment. You’ll develop and put in place independent living plans for our customers, supporting them to engage in meaningful activities and equipping them with necessary skills to take forward into independent living.

Our ideal candidate? It goes without saying that you’ll be a people person with the passion, drive and enthusiasm for delivering quality services to people from different backgrounds. You’ll have knowledge of the welfare benefits system and issues relating to homelessness, with demonstrable experience of providing housing related support to customers with achieving effective outcomes. You’ll be able to work with others in a fair and assertive manner, using your excellent communication skills, with a solution focussed outlook. We’re also looking for basic IT skills, as a minimum we’re looking for you to be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
