The Role

About you: Do you have real political and media nous and an in-depth understanding of how a government agenda is shaped, implemented and importantly, can be shaped from the outside?  Would you love the opportunity to proactively engage a wide range of stakeholders in order to promote the interests of an organisation that makes a real difference to society?

The Role? We’ve continued to thrive in what’s been a pretty unstable external environment because we’re politically savvy and confident in engaging local and national bodies, including government, to keep abreast of and importantly, influence changes to our external environment.  As our Head of External Affairs & Policy, with your eye firmly fixed on the future, you’ll revitalise our External Affairs strategy to deliver first-class external communications and shape an external environment which maximises our ability to delivery positive outcomes and high-quality services to our customers.

Using your proven senior leadership experience (including the delivery of PR, crisis management, policy analysis and stakeholder management/engagement) gained within the political environment or the external affairs function of a large organisation, you’ll spearhead our External Affairs and Policy team to further strengthening our voice in the regulatory and political landscape. You’ll build relationships with key national and regional stakeholders including journalists, local authorities, MPs and cabinet members to protect our interests and influence changes to policy and regulation before they happen.

Who are Midland Heart? We’re a large, well-known housing association in the Midlands, delivering homes and services that enable people to live independently. We employ almost 1,200 people from every walk of life, at every stage of their career and without this brilliant team of people we couldn’t achieve everything we do. Whether you want to build your career with us, or gain experience that helps you reach other professional goals, we’re here to develop your potential.
