The Role

Do you want to make a positive difference to the lives of the increasing number of people finding themselves sleeping rough on the streets of Birmingham? Do you want a role that is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure? If so, we are currently recruiting two Rough Sleepers Outreach Workers who are customer focused and have the skills to engage with vulnerable rough sleeping customers - actively supporting them to accept assistance and access housing.

The Role? Our Outreach Workers actively seek out and engage with rough sleepers and people at risk of sleeping rough - supporting individuals and enabling them to secure suitable accommodation and meet their immediate needs. This is a vital role in assisting customers to gain and maintain sustained independent living and positively participate within their community.

We are looking for people who:

  • Have experience of supporting vulnerable client groups and have knowledge of the causes of homelessness and how these can be addressed
  • Have experience of managing challenging situations, including customers who exhibit anti-social behaviour
  • Have good interpersonal skills with the ability to interview, assess and record customer needs with an honest respectful and non-judgemental approach – ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Have a current driving licence with at least one-year experience and can accommodate 3pm to 11pm shifts over a 7-day rota. Due to the nature of work, flexibility may be required as the service runs from 7am to 11pm 7-days a week.

The Benefits? We are an employer passionate about providing you with a great place to work. As well as a competitive salary and generous leave entitlement, you’ll benefit from our CIPD award winning reward initiative, including a range of voluntary and salary sacrifice benefits, generous pension arrangements, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills.

Interested? please register on our candidate portal and submit a comprehensive CV setting out your career history, with responsibilities and achievements, with a cover letter of no more than two pages which clearly explains how you think you meet the requirements of this role.

Applications will close on the 26th October 2018. We reserve the right to close this advert before the advertised date if deemed necessary.

A group assessment including an activity, in-tray exercise and a panel interview will take place on the 1st November 2018.
