The Role

Midland Heart is seeking a Business Development Project Manager to play a key role in delivering our vision of building new homes for social and affordable rent. Our Housing Delivery Strategy sets out our ambitions to grow the Development Programme to at least 2,350 homes between 2017 and 2022 and this role is a fantastic opportunity to make proactive, positive contributions within a UK Top 10 housing organisation. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking a proactive approach to securing new business – using market research to proactively seek and pursue new Land and Housing opportunities to meet the targets set out within our Housing Delivery Strategy
  • Negotiating with vendors, developers, contractors and other stakeholders to secure property and land purchases as well as the procurement of building contracts
  • Liaising with client departments to ensure that project details are understood and support is gained prior to seeking any approvals
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient handover of projects to our Development Construction Team

Who are we?  Midland Heart is one of the leading UK housing organisations providing support to help people to live independently. Founded in 1925 we deliver housing and support by providing 33,000 high quality affordable homes to over 70,000 customers across 55 local authority areas. We have a new corporate strategy and plan to take us to 2020 and beyond; we are ambitious and confident about our future.

Given the ambitious nature of this role, we require a target focused New Business development professional who enjoys working in a very fast-paced, challenging but ultimately rewarding organisation. You should ideally possess a relevant housing or construction qualification, related to the housing association sector, or have equivalent experience. Importantly we are looking candidates who have proven business development abilities, knowledge of the housing sector and experience of working in a development or property related role. Midland Heart is a people focused organisation meaning our ideal candidate will have strong inter-personal skills and the drive to support a “one team” approach within the Development Team.

What do you get in return? Midland Heart is passionate about providing you with a great place to work alongside our CIPD award winning reward initiative. We invest in our employees by providing learning and development opportunities, alongside a competitive salary and generous annual leave entitlement. We value diversity; whoever you are, you will be valued and respected in your role.

To apply, please register on our candidate portal and submit a comprehensive CV alongside a cover letter of no more than 2 pages, clearly explaining how you meet the requirements of this role and which demonstrates your career achievements.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 9am on 26th January 2018.

Interviews and Assessment will begin week commencing 5th February 2018.

Recruitment Agencies please note that we do not accept speculative CVs and should one be submitted, we will assume the candidate is our own.
