The Role

Are you a Projects Finance Specialist capable of supporting Midland Heart’s Commissioning Support team in the successful management of an £11m contracts portfolio and a pipeline of future services for older people and those facing homelessness? If so we want to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced part/qualified finance professional to assist in shaping the future of our organisation and the vital services we deliver, by providing the Commissioning Support team with financial information and analysis including, but not limited to:

  • Analysis of the financial performance of our supported and retirement accommodation portfolio - undertaking scheme appraisals of any existing business to assess performance against budget, investigate the root of performance trends and advise on how best to improve performance.
  • Advising and providing timely and accurate financial information on the pricing of new tenders, extensions to existing contracts or any variations made to existing contracts - advising on whether particular tenders are likely to meet the organisation’s key financial parameters.
  • Providing financial support to the Strategic Commissioning Manger in the production and implementation of business cases, alongside bespoke projects designed to further the corporate objectives for supported and retirement accommodation.

Who are we?  Midland Heart is one of the leading UK housing businesses providing support to help people to live independently. Founded in 1925 we deliver housing and support by providing 33,000 high quality affordable homes to over 70,000 customers across 55 local authority areas. We have a new corporate strategy and plan to take us to 2020 and beyond; we are ambitious and confident about our future.

It is essential that you be a qualified / part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIPFA) with excellent experience of financial modelling using Excel or similar spreadsheet products. This is not a month-end number crunching role; the successful candidate will not only be able to produce highly detailed financial information and appraisals regarding relevant projects, but also articulate and present financial information into an easy to understand format for senior stakeholders. Knowledge of our sector would be  advantageous but not essential. More important to us is that you’re capable of developing an expertise in the financial performance of Midland Heart’s supported and retirement accommodation portfolio, alongside an understanding of the latest trends and thinking in retirement and supported living accommodation.

What do you get in return? Midland Heart is passionate about providing you with a great place to work alongside our CIPD award winning reward initiative. We invest in our employees by providing learning and development opportunities, alongside a competitive salary and generous annual leave entitlement. We value diversity; whoever you are, you will be valued and respected in your role.
