The Role

Midland Heart is seeking an experienced Commissioning professional as Strategic Commissioning Manager to oversee all contract related activity to help shape and implement future services within our existing Retirement and Supported Living portfolio.

It is an exciting time to be working in the Housing Sector.  There has been big changes in the political landscape and many of our most important stakeholders are taking the housing crisis more seriously than ever before.  There is also potential for big changes to the way major funding is commissioned, especially in the area of Supported Living.  The right candidate will be able to digest and understand the impact of these changes and ensure that we are in the best position to deal with them.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commissioning as well as the political and social environment in which our Supported and Retirement Living contracts are agreed, monitored and operated. You’ll be able to get up to speed with the detail of our contracts quickly and have the ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders across a wide geography.

You’ll connect with our purpose and mission; joining a people focussed organisation like ours, you must possess excellent people management skills. Engaging the team and inspiring them to deliver a first-class service will be key to the role.

Who are we? Midland Heart is one of the UK’s leading Housing Associations with over 70,000 customers living in around 33,000 homes across 55 local authorities.  Midland Heart’s mission is to be the leading Housing Association in the Midlands helping people to live independently and building high quality new homes.

During the first half of 2018 Midland Heart will add 981 homes to our retirement living portfolio as we transfer care contracts from the Extra Care Charitable Trust.  Incorporating these 15 new contracts, worth £4.5m a year, into our commissioning portfolio, as well as building relationships with relevant new commissioners, will be an early priority for the Strategic Commissioning Manager.

What can we offer you? We are a flexible employer passionate about providing you with a great place to work. As well as a competitive salary and generous leave entitlement, you’ll benefit from our CIPD award winning reward initiative, including a range of voluntary and salary sacrifice benefits, generous pension arrangements, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills as a commissioning professional.

To apply, please register on our candidate portal and submit a comprehensive CV setting out your career history, with responsibilities and achievements, supported by a cover letter of no more than one page which clearly explains how you think you meet the requirements of this role.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 9am on Tuesday 2nd January 2018.

Assessments will take place on Friday 12th and Monday 15th January 2018.

Recruitment Agencies please note that we do not accept speculative CVs and should one be submitted, we will assume the candidate is our own.
