The Role

Midland Heart is seeking a highly commercial Finance Business Partner to drive our financial performance and play a key role in achieving our corporate strategy objectives for 2020 and beyond. This is an excellent opportunity to influence business decisions at a strategic level, through which you and your direct report will proactively engage with key business stakeholders up to Executive Board level; providing robust financial business partnering support to the organisation. The support you’ll provide includes, but is not limited to:

  • Review of monthly management accounts, identifying and reviewing trends and business reasons supporting under / over performance, whilst considering the impact of long-term financial performance.
  • Production of monthly commercial reviews and Management Packs for Executive and Functional Directors, including commentary and explanation to aid decision making at a senior level.
  • Completion and presentation of monthly forecasts and budgets to Functional Directors, budget holders and Ebis users – ensuring that all variable factors have been considered in the process.
  • Challenging stakeholders on any anomalous activity to ensure financial compliance and robust financial controls, whilst training and coaching budget holders to develop their own budget management skills.

Who are we?  Midland Heart is one of the leading UK housing businesses providing support to help people to live independently. Founded in 1925 we deliver housing and support by providing 33,000 high quality affordable homes to over 70,000 customers across 55 local authority areas. We have a new corporate strategy and plan to take us to 2020 and beyond; we are ambitious and confident about our future.

Our ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / ACMA) capable of taking ownership of the delivery of high quality, accurate and easy to understand financial reports and analysis. You’ll therefore demonstrate experience of preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, KPI reports and analysis using Excel (Vlookups, sumif, pivot tables etc.), gained within a multi-cost centre organisation. Joining a people focused organisation like ours, you must possess excellent people management skills including experience of line-managing / supervising a small team, as well as the ability to manage relationships with senior stakeholders across our organisation.

What do you get in return? Midland Heart is passionate about providing you with a great place to work alongside our CIPD award winning reward initiative. We invest in our employees by providing learning and development opportunities, alongside a competitive salary and generous annual leave entitlement. We value diversity; whoever you are, you will be valued and respected in your role.
